Transport funding — help getting around
If your disability means you can't easily use public transport, the NDIS can fund support to help you get where you need to go — work, appointments, activities and the community.
This transport funding usually sits in your Core budget. Depending on your situation it may be provided as a regular, set amount, or arranged as part of the support you receive.
What it can and can't cover
The exact amount and how it's structured varies a lot between plans. Your planner, Local Area Coordinator or support coordinator can explain how yours works.

"Provider travel" — why it's on your invoice
Separately, you might see "provider travel" on an invoice and wonder what it is. NDIS pricing rules let providers charge for the time — and sometimes the vehicle costs — of travelling to you, for example a support worker driving to your home.
This isn't an extra pot of money. It's drawn from your support budget, within limits the NDIS sets. It's also why a home visit can cost a little more than the same support at a central location.
Questions worth asking
Before you start with a provider, it's fair to ask how they charge for travel and roughly how much it will add — especially if you're in a regional area or want home visits. A good provider will be upfront about it.
